Rain Makers

This Rain Maker was not only easy to make but will provide your child withendless fun as they shake their "Rain Makers"!

You will need:
empty paper towel holder
tissue paper
paint brush
glitter glue
water bowl
rice or beans
wax paper
rubber bands

Have your child tear off different colored tissue ppaer and allow them to create a design all over the paper towel holder using a paint brush and water to temporairily set the tissue paper in place.

Once they have all their tissue paper on take glitter glue and spread it all over tissue paper being careful to not to rip paper.( It rips very easily)

Once dry have them take a large enough piece of wax paper to cover one end of paper towel holder and fasten rubber band around to secure.

Next fill your holder with rice or dry beans 1/4 of the way .

Finally secure the other end with wax paper and rubber bands. You now have yourself a Rain Maker!

Great project for this time of the year . Kids will believe they brought on the rain when the use it!

My girls were so proud of themselves when they made these and have had eun shaking them since they were done!

Enjoy and have some fun making these!

Butterfly Snack

Introduce your children into the Spring season with a snack like this one I saw in Family Fun magazine.

I made these for my daughter's preschool class and it fit right in with their study of insects this month!

Take some zip lock bags and fill with snack of your choice. You can use chex mix, dried fruit , cheerios, fruit loops what ever your child and class mates will like.

Once filled, seal bag. Glitter glue some clothespins and attach googly eyes. Once dry, separate your zip lock bag and affix clothespin in the center. Finish off with some antennaes made from pipe cleaners. Bend into shape and clip onto clothespin.

I filled a butterfly net with these treats as a finishing touch. These snacks will get your children and their classmates "bugging" for more!!

Enjoy and happy Spring !!!

Yoga

Since I  take yoga myself , my daughter was excited to try something that mommy does so we
attended this 8 week children's yoga class offered inside the Lower Providence Library.

Certified Yoga instructor , Kamini  teaches children ages 4-6 and adults too.

She offers private lessons in the comfort of your own home at your convenience as well !

Wonderfully taught and a good way to introduce yoga to your little one or yourself.

Yoga has many benefits -a way to stretch, tone and relax one's entire physical and mental systems.

Since my daughter is involved with other activities such as gymnastics and cheerleading , the stretching aspect of yoga really helps her.

She really enjoyed this class and I think yours will too! Private or group classes offered, From beginner to advanced, whatever your level, Kamini can provide you with a wonderful yoga experience !

For more information, please call Kamini Patel @ 610-539-8611 or her cell @ 484-919-6128.

Jelly Bean Surprise

Looking for something fun to do outside with your kids? This is something that will satisfy that desire....

Take your kids outside in their play clothes and tell them that they are going to plant some jelly beans.

Have each child dig a small hole , plop their jelly bean in and cover back up with dirt .

Take your watering can and shower your beans with some water... Tell them that tomorrow we can check and see if anything grew.

After they go to bed pop some lolly pops in where they planted their jelly beans.

Watch their little faces light up when they see what sprouted up... This is an activity and tradition I have done with my girls every Spring and will continue as long as their young enough to enjoy!

Happy Planting !

Easter Bunny Sock Dolls

We made these cute Easter Bunnies using simple supplies we had around the house.

You will need
Kids Socks ( any color ) we used pastel for Easter
Rice
Funnel
Rubberbands
Felt, for eyes and nose ( we used black, white and pink )
small pom-pom for bunny tail
decorative ribbon for bow-tie
scissors
Glue

Start by using a funnel and pouring rice into the sock. Tie decorative ribbon around where you want head and body divided.

On the very top of bunny's head wrap rubber band around securely. This is where top portion of sock will be and you will create rabbit ears out of this part of the sock as well. Take your scissors and cut down the middle to create the ears. You can cut on an angle to give your ears appropriate shape.

Have your child cut they eyes and nose from the felt in your choice of colors and glue in to place.

Finally glue on your small pom-pom for bunnie's tail.

You have now completed a very easy project with your children that they will sure to be proud of.

 Hoppy Easter!!!

Easter Basket Cupcakes

So cute, so festive .... That's what your friends will be saying when you make these cute Easter basket cupcakes!

I saw these cupcakes in Curious Parents and had to make them for our family.

I prepared my cupcake mix to make 24 cupcakes and followed regular instructions and baked.

Once cooled, I used vanilla icing for starters on my cupcakes. Take 1/2 bag of shredded coconut  and put it into a stainless steel bowl with a couple drops of green food coloring . Stir until blended.

Sprinkle onto cupcake to represent easter grass. Put three jelly beans on top to represent eggs.

Take a pipe cleaner and bend into cup cake for basket handle.

Finish it off with easter ribbon and there you have it, an Easter basket cupcake for you and your loved ones to enjoy !

Doc Bressler's cavity buster - Local Dentist

Our children love going to the dentist now that we found Doc Bressler's cavity buster in Dresher, Pa.

They have 2 other locations in Fort Washington and North east Philadelphia.

From the moment you walk in, you are warmly greeted and welcomed. There is a fun beach theme in the waiting room and video games for the kids to keep busy while you wait.

Once the technician is ready for you, you are brought back into an under water sea themed room.

Every chair comes equipped with flatscreen for your child's viewing pleasure.

The office is very clean, and is a very professional environment..

In the end your child can pick a treasure from their huge treasure chest full of goodies for your them to enjoy !

I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone looking for a great children's dentist  and now they even treat adult patients in their Dresher location.

One stop takes care of whole family -nice!

Jelly Bean Chick

When I saw this cute Easter craft  in Curious Parents , I had to make it for my daughter's preschool party.

Easy directions and inexpensive supplies that you can get at your local craft supplier make this a nice craft to make.

-Take a sandwich bag and fill with some jelly beans, twist and secure with pipe cleaner.Trim excess with scissors.
-Put craft glue on large yellow pom-pom and secure to top of bag.
-Cut two hearts out of yellow foam. Lay two hearts down and glue to bottom for bag for chickie's feet.
-Glue two googly eyes to the pom-pom.
-Cut a small triangle out of orange felt and glue under eyes to represent chickies beak.
-Glue on a bow tie made out of pipe cleaner and attach small pom-pom for center of bow tie.

Happy Easter!

The local Leprechaun

St.Patrick's Day

Everyone needs the luck of the Irish, but some of us need more than others,

St.Patrick's Day is the perfect time to pass it around. Enlist your children as local Leprechauns and send them out to share their luck. To do this, make cookies or another simple treat with your children, then wrap goodies in something green, (I found an old green tablecloth) .

Write a special note to the local lads and lassie, and deliver the notes along with lucky treats to your neighbors and friends.

Remember you are to act as a Leprechaun, and never be seen. Leave your gifts on a porch, in a mailbox,or on a windowsill.

Irish or not your friends will be tickled green and your kids will have fun being Leprechauns!
