If your looking for a whimsical way to carry your goodies, then this turkey basket is for you!
 
I made this because I was looking for a container to put my daughter's pilgrim hat treats in so I decided to make something festive. You can also use this for a turkey bread basket to carry to your host for Thanksgiving-it has endless possibilities!
 
Start by getting a large size basket -I chose my basket that has a handle so it was easily transportable but you could use any basket to your liking.
 
Take a wooden spoon and apply googly eyes, yellow beak ( make simply from construction paper but you could use a cashew if you had one or what ever you have around the house. I used a red self stick foam sticker for turkey's gizzard but you could use red construction paper or use your imagination with something else that could easily adhere to wooden spoon.
 
Let dry and gather up some colored construction paper for the feathers.Cut out as many feathers as your basket will hold or enough to make your turkey look realistic.Take a wooden skewer and place on top of feather with glue allowing enough of skewer to hang over feather so you can stick into your basket to stand upright. Once dry, place another cut out feather to hide skewer-allow it to dry .
 
Once all pieces are dry -begin by sticking wooden spoon in front of your basket if your weaves aren't large enough to hold spoon -get a piece of stryofoam to hold spoon instead. Finally stick your feathers in back of your basket by placing skewers in weaves of basket to keep feather standing upright.Again , if your basket doesn't have large enough weaves, place feathers in stryofoam block to hold instead.
