Jack-o'lantern Pre School Snack

I wanted to do something fun for my daughter's preschool class for snack.
It's October & the season for Halloween inspired ideas so here is one I thought I'd share with you ...

I purchased 15 oranges ( one for each child )
-slice a small sliver off bottom of orange so it won't roll.
-cut a hole on top of orange  with a regular knife & scoop out remains of orange into a bowl
to use later for freshly squeezed orange juice or just as a snack.
(You don't want to waste it so refrigerate leftovers or enjoy right away for peak freshness).
-I used a small jagged saw like gadget -purchased from last years Jack-o' lantern Pumpkin carving kit , and started carving out my orange to resemble a Jack o 'lantern . Starting with eyes , nose & then a small slit for mouth .
Don't make your openings very big because you want whatever you decide to fill your orange with, not to be able to seep out .

I used fruit cocktail to fill my oranges with . I thought this would be a healthy choice & a no brainer for those children who have peanut allergy in her school. No worries !

I finished with adding a green spoon to represent the pumpkin stem .

There you have it -a healthy snack for your preschooler to enjoy!

If you have any creative snack ideas to share, please send to me to be featured in my blog !

Happy Halloween!
